Ah, the street festivals will be here soon and there are quite a few lineups this year worthy of the blocked streets and the overflow of traffic and people they create. The recently released Wicker Park Fest is teeming with great acts, including the always entertaining Man Man, Chicago darlings Skybox, other highlights include Centro-matic, Mannequin Men, Catfish Haven, Oh My God, Maritime, Pit Er Pat, & Russian Circles. WPF goes down on July 28 & 29th, keeping you well nourished between Pitchfork and Lollapalooza. Check out Wicker Park Fest's shiny new Myspace page for more info!
What else is happening? More great street fests after the jump!
Working our way north, the newly created Belmont Arts & Music Festival (BAM!), curated by House Call Entertainment is another lineup worthy of that suggested donation this year, plus they've managed to secure the permits to block off Belmont/Damen and rock out with a list of bands including legends Bob Mould, The Wrens, as well as Heartless Bastards, The Redwalls, Robbers on High Street, and Catfish Haven. BAM! happens June 23rd and 24th at Belmont and Damen. Check out www.beatkitchen.com for more information!
Then, just a little further north and coming up fast! Northcenter Chamber of Commerce and Big Buzz have released their Music Lineup for this year's Ribfest Chicago. The two block BBQ meat fest has a healthy dose of honky tonk and indie pop rock with two stages featuring Baby Teeth, Chin Up Chin Up, Head of Femur, The Blacks, This is Me Smiling, Bound Stems, Dolly Varden, and Dollar Store. Get your "meat on" June 9th and 10th at Irving Park and Lincoln. More Information on the official Ribfest Chicago website.
The only time dancing in the street with great rock musicians failed? (see below)
