'Tis the season for boxed-sets and best of's, but compiling all those discs for all the rockers on your Xmas list can get expensive. Fortunately, RFC is back once again to help spare your pocketbook with a chance to win a gift-wrapped copy of the new Libertines greatest hits collection, Time For Heroes, that just hit stores this week. Yes, that's right, not only are we continuing to help you with your Christmas shopping, but we're even sparing you the time and expense of gift wrapping this time around. So if you got a Brit-rawking friend or family member on your list, don't delay and drop us a line at radiofreechicago(at)gmail.com with "Libertines" in the subject line and we'll draw a winner at random next Monday (12/3). Good luck!
(psst...in case you missed it, there's still time to enter our Black Friday contest, we'll be drawing winners by end of day this Friday)
Bringing together the tracks that defined a generation and sold a million records, produced by The Clash's Mick Jones from their epochal debut Up The Bracket and feted, self-titled follow-up (and No. 1 album), Time For Heroes is a timely reminder of the unique talent of Albion's favorite sons Pete Doherty, Carl Barât, John Hasall and Gary Powell. Rough Trade's Geoff Travis and Jeanette Lee; "The Libertines were the best and most influential band of the last decade, please forget the hype and just listen to the music." The collection includes the classic singles; "Can't Stand Me Now", "Time For Heroes", fan picks; "What A Waster", "Boys In The Band" and live favorites / b-sides "The Delaney" and "May Day" (full tracklisting below).
