Thursday night, folsky New York chanteuse Dawn Landes will be taking over the stage at The Hideout for a headlining gig with Balthrop, Alabama and local shoegazers Mittens on Strings. A recording engineer by day, Landes has a developed a reputation for her adept musicianship on a flurry of quirky instruments like glockenspiels, optigons and accordions, in addition to a penchant for cheap guitars. I actually had a few classes with Dawn in High School in Louisville.
She's always been uber talented and had a beautiful voice (I think I still might have a tape of songs she wrote that I bought from her in 11th grade). I think she even won a talent contest for a unique remdition of 'Sweet Jane' too?
Anyways, well worth checking out!
