
It has been nearly ten years since Duluth, MN based sad-core indie rockers, Low captured the essence of Christmas. Back in the day, the band was notorious for its beautiful yet haunting slow-core sound with its chugging guitars, soft jazzy drum tappings and alternating angelic vocals. Alan Sparhawk and wife, Mimi Parker take turns on this 30-minute session filled with five reverent originals and three slow-mo stand-bys, including the up-beat Phil Spectorish operner "Just Like Christmas" and the stark, reflective closer, "One Special Gift." Low stays true to its gloomy-glam style on traditional takes such as "Little Drummer Boy" and "Blue Christmas."
