If there's one thing I'm always in awe of, it's Chicago's dedication when it comes to partying. This is, after all, the city of the 4 a.m. last call. So naturally,
Chicago continues the time honored tradition of the afterparty this year with full force, bringing out some of the festival's best acts for encore performances at any and every venue worth it's salt in the proverbially windy city. The New Pornographers, Devo, and These United States (amongst others) kicked off the festival on the 5th but if you missed the likes of them, don't fret. There's plenty more worth your time tonight, tomorrow, and Sunday to keep your spirits up and assist you in beating the heat.
Recent RFC interviewees Freelance Whales hit Lincoln Hall tonight with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros while MGMT are taking over the House of Blues but our pick for tonight is the already-sold out Double Door gig that The Walkmen are playing with Warpaint. The Walkmen? At the Double Door? You heard that right. The only venue more different from Grant Park's stage would probably be a barn. But wait, the Walkmen have done that too! Is there anything they don't excel at? Check them out before their new album, Lisbon, drops in the fall and find out for yourself.
Tomorrow night, California quartet The Morning Benders bring their sublime Shins-y indie to the Metro doing opening duty for The Black Keys and Gogol Bordello prepare to bring down the roof at Subterranean with an opening set from - Be still my beating heart! - Ryan Olson of Gayngs. (Side note: Gayngs once at replied me on twitter telling me to "Do my thayng" and "be proud". It was one of the best moments of my life.) While I'd love to say I'm hitting either one of those doubtlessly stellar shows up, my priorities are torn between two of my Lolla picks battling for my affections at different venues: Miniature Tigers will be at the Double Door while loves-of-my-life The National bring their somber-meets-sarcastic rock to The House of Blues. What's a girl to do?! Ditch them both and hit up Jukebox the Ghost at the Empty Bottle, perhaps?
The Morning Benders - Waiting For A War
Thankfully, Sunday proves to be an easier choice to make with Phoenix's post-fest set at The - you guessed it! - House of Blues and you can best believe they'll make for a refreshing change of pace from the sweat-riddled heatstroke of a weekend spent in the Park.
Most sought event to their place is this. Happiest day for me too.

I really like this remix of Girlfriend by Alex Hill, it takes it in a Chillwave type style, very relaxing - http://compromisemusic.wordpress.com/2010/09/28/girlfriend-alex-hill-remix/
