Most of the legends of my youth don't tour anymore. Some of them reportedly suffer from gone-by-the-wayside sanity (Jeff Mangum) and others have died (Elliott Smith) and some, well, they just don't tour the way they should. Few things made me as angry as the Kings of Leon "with support from" Built To Spill tour that happened earlier this year. To have a legendary band of indie rockers like Built To Spill open for Kings of Revlon is more or less a travesty so the fact that former Pedro The Lion frontman David Bazan is still able to sell out venues fourteen years after his emergance on to the indie scene is something we're pretty greatful for, to say the least.
Tomorrow, Bazan brings his never-to-be-missed live show to my personal favorite venue of all time, Lincoln Hall. If you didn't catch him last year for his sold out gig at the same locale, now's your time.
There's a reason the man was named one of the 100 Best Living Songwriters by Paste Magazine. No record exlempifies personal stuggle, existential crises, and a loss of faith like last year's Curse Your Branches.
Support will be from the buzz-tastic Mynabirds and the show starts at 9 for the 18 and over crowd. Best part? Tickets are still availible!
