You may have heard by now, but Morrissey, who is not exactly new to saying and doing racist shit, said something racist in an interview recently. And like many times when someone says something racist, he considers himself to have a perfectly good reason for said generalizations and derogatory insults.
Last week, in an interview with UK publication The Guardian, Morrisey espoused:
"Did you see the thing on the news about their treatment of animals and animal welfare? Absolutely horrific. You can't help but feel that the Chinese are a subspecies."
"You" sure can't. Morrissey-- who apparently doesn't care for being tactful enough to separate advocating for animal rights and attacking an entire country/ethnic group-- has not retracted his remarks since the backlash has flared up, but simply elaborated upon them.
"If anyone has seen the horrific and unwatchable footage of the Chinese cat and dog trade-- animals skinned alive-- then they could not possibly argue in favour of China as a caring nation. There are no animal protection laws in China and this results in the worst animal abuse and cruelty on the planet. It is indefensible."
This is not to say that RFC, or this writer specifically, does not care about animals. I thoroughly advocate a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle (with proper additional supplements!). But seriously: "subspecies." Subspecies!
Editor's Note: Amber Valentine thoroughly agree with everything Emanuel Vinson says.
