GigMaven, based out of New York City, is a site that helps streamline the process for bands and venues alike to find each other and book gigs. Launched in October 2008, this tool has eased bookings in Austin, Boston, San Fran and now Chicagoland. To celebrate, they're bringing together Wolf in a Spacesuit, Dozens, The Loneliest Monk and Netherfriends tonight at Subterranean for only $8!
Wolf in a Spacesuit starts off the night with their stellar experiments into synthpop, as catchy as pop without sacrificing musical integrity as "Bark of a Cedar" reveals. Teamed up with Arthur Aircraft on guitar, the unsigned band perked the social networking world to the reaches of accolades from MGMT and Chairlift. Following up, Dozens...well, I'd normally conjure up some clever words, but you can't get much better than what The Deli Magazine said in writing that they combined "elements of Morphine, mellower Alice in Chains, and even a touch of Fleet Foxes." Yep, can't do better than that.
Having performed with The Foo Fighters and Kanye, Michelle Morales is one half of the duo The Loneliest Monk, along with Miles Benjamin. Avant-garde classical and art-rock incorporating resonating drums and a bellowing cello, Michelle's voice is the sunlight cast into the cobwebbed atmosphere of a haunted Victorian house. Never fear though, because ending the night is uplifting drifting indie pop of Netherfriends. You could visit their myspace, but hey, Daytrotter's got you covered!
Nettherfriends - Nunya (Beeswax) (Live At Daytrotter)

An incorporated business can be perceived as larger and taken more seriously than sole proprietorships.
