Judge me all you want, but I will never deny my love for Evanescence. Since the first time I heard their hit single “Bring Me to Life”, I've been hooked. The band's debut studio album, Fallen, is one of my personal favorite albums of all time and I have reason to believe that won't change any time soon.
Shortly after their 2006 album, The Open Door, was released, the band went on hiatus until their newest self titled album was released on October 11th.
Although Evanescence has never completely strayed from their signature goth-rock style, this album definitely brings listeners back to when the band was just getting started. Somewhat reminiscent of Fallen in the sense that it has that heavier and almost eerie sort of feel to it, Evanescence is definitely a lot cleaner and overall stronger musically, vocally, and lyrically.
The albums first single, “What You Want”, is a powerful rock ballad in which Amy Lee's vocals sound as crisp and beautiful as they ever have. This extremely catchy track is one that could easily get an entire room on their feet just with its chorus alone.
“My Heart is Broken” is a beautifully dark song that deals with exactly what one would expect a song with such a title to deal with. However, in a recent interview with Kerrang Magazine, Amy Lee stated that the song has to do with her involvement with an organization that rescues victims of sex trafficking, rather than the actual romantic heartbreak suggested by the title. Regardless of the actual meaning behind the song, I personally feel as though the lyrics do well to describe the feelings one has when they are left heart broken.
Assuming you're as big a fan of Evanescence as I am, you'll probably be downloading the deluxe version of the album, (which I strongly suggest doing regardless of your level of fandom). The deluxe editon of Evanescence features not one, not two, not even three, but FOUR bonus tracks. Four. That's like an entire new EP. That being said, the final track on the deluxe album, “Secret Door”, may very well be this album's “My Immortal”.
“Secret Door” is a hauntingly beautiful track in which Amy Lee's already flawless vocals are backed by the almost eerie sounds of instruments such as violin, piano, and harp. This is the type of song that when you listen to it, you can visualize in your head what the music video would look like. “Secret Door” has quickly become one of my favorite Evanescence songs to date. It has the haunting qualities of a lot of the band's previous music while still managing to bring something new, such as the use of different instrumentation, to the table.
Since Fallen was released in 2003, Evanescence has done a fantastic job at producing music that is not only consistently good, but they have also never once strayed from the sound that has made them who they are today.

thank you for having a good discussion on this topic

Have you ever had a topic to write about that seems too big to tackle that you can’t even begin to write about it? Well, welcome to my world. I need to send educational supplies to Africa. I know! You have so many questions racing through your head right about now. Let’s just say – all of your questions will be answered in due time. For now, listen to my heart and my passion

The darkest hour is that before the dawn. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for circumstances they want , and if they cannot find them .they make them.
