Atlanta band Snowden released their debut album, Anti-Anti, last year after self-releasing a self titled EP in 2003. Their music wavers between straight up pop music and heavier handed shoegaze sensibilities.

In their opening slot with headliners Kings of Leon, lead singer Jordan Jeffares commanded the stage with his distinct vocals, opening the set with “Like Bullets.” Luckily for the quartet, people showed up in droves early, but the crowd seemed a bit disinterested as they were probably saving their energy for their beloved Kings. Next, Snowden played “Good News,” a track from their EP. Jeffares gots into the moment and flailed around a lot. Drummer Chandler Rentz’s energy was also quite palpable as he beat down on those drums and rocked out with Jeffares. “Anti-Anti,” by far the best track off their album, and the band’s most disparate with its infectious melodies, burst to life finally got the kids to liven up and dance a little. The group played their eighth and final track, dedicating it to Kings of Leon and ending their set on a dreamy note. Snowden is a band with tremendous potential and the fact they’ve opened for behemoths Arcade Fire and now Kings of Leon should increase their confidence and exposure to the masses.
It is cruel to tease those of us on the west coast with eye candy like this... no dates for us yet :(
