Tonight Nate Euhus, better known as DJ LA*Jesus, is throwing his second annual birthday bash fundraiser at Darkroom. In addition to Jesus' hot skillz on the decks, the party will also feature the electro-pop sounds of Walter Meego, hip-hop emcee Lipschitz and DJ Bald Eagle of Life During Wartime fame. Proceeds from the night will benefit the great local charity, Rock For Kids.
And as if raising money for a good cause and hanging out with Jesus on a Friday night wasn't enough incentive, check out all of the sweet swag giveaways up for grabs:
Our raffle prizes now include tickets to see Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Cold War Kids at Metro - includes a limited edition screen printed concert poster! This is in addition to $500 in Threadless gift certificates, studio time at Rax Trax Recording, gift certificates from Reckless Records, Rotofugi, Quimby's, Buona Terra, T-Shirt Deli and more. PLUS haircuts from Bravo's Shear Genius runner-up Ben Mollin.
So, in honor of this fine occasion, RFC has compiled a hot Friday 8-track set of all-Jesus tunes (much to our surprise, there are actually a helluva lot of good secular songs about Jesus...who knew??). Download all the sweet divine tracks after jump or simply hit play on the embeded player below.
1. The Dandy Warhols - "Hard On For Jesus"
2. The Doobie Brothers - "Jesus Is Just Alright"
3. Modest Mouse - "Jesus Christ Was An Only Child"
4. Depeche Mode - "Personal Jesus (Holier Than Thou Mix)"
(flip)
5. The Flaming Lips - "Shine On Sweet Jesus (Jesus Song No. 5)"
6. The Veils - "Jesus For The Jugular"
7. Spacemen 3 - "Walking With Jesus (Demo Version)"
HEY RFC!
Thanks so much, you guys, for the post on your site regarding the DJ LA*Jesus Birthday Benefit! It was very sweet of you to put together the "Jesus mix" - I'm rockin' to it right now. The event was a success and a total blast, so thanks to anyone who came out and might be reading this. Keep rocking over Chicago y'all!!!

Wow, it's a great thing for a fundraiser! I never attended one but I'm sure it's great. Especially with artists coming out and performing just so you guys can raise money to help people in need. There's also another event that is going to be happening on the 28th of June @ the Alamenda Palace Restaurant from 7pm - 11pm. With performances by Dice Raw from the Roots & Truck North, I know it'll be great! And on top of it, it's ALL free and all you have to do is to RSVP. Check out http://www.yarisversusyaris.com for more information. I know this because I work with them!
