Innerpartysystem: I wouldnt say we are doing much different...what can you really do different from? We're playing on a stage, for people. Per usual. I mean it will probably be much bigger than most of our gigs we play. Am I excited? Definitely. But you won't catch me doing any extra pre show rituals than usual. If things get crazy enough, maybe I'll drink an extra beer. Who knows?
What do you like best about playing outdoor festivals?
Being at the festival itself. I'm really excited to be a fan that day. Just walk around, watch bands, meet kids, party, whatever. Just relax and have fun.
What do you like about playing Chicago?
We are a fairly new band. Most of the places we have been, we have only been once. I honestly haven't toured enough to make an honest comparison. I mean I could say, 'the shows are sick, and the kids are totally crazy, HOLY SHIT." But, then I'd be blowing smoke up your ass. I really haven't been doing this long enough yet. Ask me in 3 years.
How is your competition stacking up on the schedule?
Competition? I thought we were going to play a festival? This isn't the NFL. I don't ever look at music as a competitive sport. Are there other fucking amazing bands I want to see? Yeah, plenty. I am really looking forward to Rage, I still have never had a chance to see them live. I am also pretty stoked to see Jamie Lidel, Spank Rock, Battles, and MGMT.
