RFC: So, what are you doing to gear up for the big Lollapalooza performance?
Josh Lambert: We’re practicing every day, making a bunch of new stuff, and working out heavily.
What do you like best about playing outdoor festivals?
The best thing about outdoor festivals is the chance to play in front of a ton of people that wouldn’t necessarily have ever gone to see us at a club. Everyone is excited to be at the festival, so it’s a pretty positive environment, and folks seem ready to get nuts. It’s great!
What do you like about playing Chicago?
Chicago is definitely one of our favorite places to play. The folks at the shows always seem to go totally crazy, and are really supportive. So, our shows are always a blast! We also seem to have at least one day off when we play there, so we always get a chance to check out the city. Every time we visit, we eat at a restaurant called Victory’s Banner. It’s one of the most amazing places on earth. Then there’s Reckless Records, Quimby’s… Chicago is totally awesome!
How is your competition stacking up on the schedule?
We’re playing first on Sunday, so I don’t think we have too much in the way of competition. That’s good and bad. Hopefully folks feel excited enough to get up early! But, at least we’re not on at the same time as Radiohead.
Any other summer festival stories to share (Chicago or otherwise)?
We all went to Lollapaloozas in high school. Seeing Lollapalooza ’92 was pretty much the high point in my life up to that point. I was 14, and most of my favorite bands at the time were playing. It was the first big festival I’d ever been to (as well as the first concert I was allowed to go to without parental supervision), so I was in heaven! And, it turns out that both Yvonne and I were at the show. We were destined to meet!
Yes you don't have to work yourself to death.
