One of the most beautiful albums on 2007 was Bon Iver's For Emma Forever Ago. Understated, melodic and all around-gorgeous, For Emma was the type of album that stuck with the listener for weeks, sometimes months, afterward the first listen and made appearances on many "Best of The Year" lists. However, those waiting for a follow up are going to be waiting a very long time as front man Justin Vernon has announced Bon Iver's indefinite hiatus.
The music scene won't be completely devoid of Vernon however, as his experimental rock band Volcano Choir has only just started up and he reportedly plans to continue work with Megafaun. It does seem though that the last bit of Bon Iver we're going to get under that moniker is Vernon's duet with St. Vincent on (of all things!) the alarmingly good soundtrack to the newest installment in the Twilight series, New Moon.
