For anyone who made a New Year's resolution to be more environmentally sustainable this year, I've got a new blog project I'd like to introduce to you. I'm calling it Urban Simplicity and its aim is to offer "practical tips on how to simplify your life by consuming less, without sacrificing the essence of what makes city life great." The site was born out of a final project I did for a grad school class last term and this month I'm going to be giving it a public test run as a companion to the main RFC site. Add it to your bookmarks and RSS feeds and let me know what you think. (drop me a line at radiofreechicago(at)gmail.com with "Urban Simplicity" in the subject line)
Would love to hear all your feedback and ideas as the challenge of such a site is going to be in actually connecting with a community of people and presenting content that is entertaining and engaging enough to actually inspire action. I don't want to just preach to the converted here, my motivation for this experiment is to see if we can translate the power of social media discourse into actionable results off-line as well.
