You'd be hard pressed to find a group of indie poppers more ubiquitously adorable than the Texan quintet Eisley. The band of siblings (and one errant cousin) will be hitting this reviewer's favorite venue in the world, Lincoln Hall, tonight with assistance from the Christie Dupree (The only female Dupree not actually in Eisley) and The Lion and The Sail, as part of their brief Mild Mild Midwest Tour, previewing tracks off their forthcoming album.
Those familiar with Eisley will know to expect sugary sweet harmonies from sisters Stacy and Sherri, searingly evocative guitar riffs from big sis Chauntelle, and lyrics that come straight out a fairy tale, only with a bit of a twist now that the Dupree gals are older. Those unfamiliar with Eisley might be tempted to make the trek out to Lincoln Hall after looking at the picture of the band above.
Cute? You betcha! But Eisley is more than just a group of pretty faces. They've hit the road with everyone from pop punkers Say Anything to indie-group-gone-way-mainstream Snow Patrol, starting their annual national marathon when all Duprees were unable to legally drink, way back in the day with Coldplay. RFC reviewed the band's last release, last year's Fire Kites EP a while back, and if the EP is any indication of their forthcoming third release, their stay at Lincoln Hall will showcase some gorgeous keyboarding from Stacy, as well as deeply personal lyrics that come straight form the girls' personal lives. After all, Sherri did go through a fairly "high profile" marriage and divorce to New Found Glory's Chad Gilbert before becoming half of the ridiculously adorable couple of "Sherri from Eisley and Max from Say Anything". With that information in tow, it's certain that new songs will run a whole gamut of emotions, and that's saying nothing for Chauntelle and Stacy, who recently got married and engaged, respectively.
Lovely tunes from lovely ladies? Sounds like a decent way to spend your Wednesday night, Chicago.
