Chicago psychedelic indie-rock outfit CAW! CAW! (not to be confused with Cacaw) released its debut LP, Bummer Palace, in May—but I haven’t even had a chance to pick it up. According to the band’s MySpace, it’s available at shows, and the next one they have lined up for Chicago is on September 19th at the Empty Bottle. Unless something unforeseen happens, you can bet I’ll be there. Why? Because I loved the entirety of the band’s EP “Wait Outside” and because seeing them play at a party last year was both a blast and somewhat of a riot—the cops came, yet CAW! CAW! continued to rock out on their song “Toothless” anyway. At the time, “Toothless” was totally my favorite track from their MySpace page so for me, it was all the more epic.
On top of being tight and writing complex jams, the group pulls off pop sensibility without a hitch. If you’re in Chicago, be sure to make it to the September 19th show to see their powerful live show and wild stage antics.
