It's no secret that one of my very favorite folkies these days is Jeremy Messersmith. Since the introduction of the '60's influenced songwriter into my life, nary a mix has been made that didn't include songs like "Lazy Bones" and "Organ Doner" and that is saying something becuase shoot, I make a lot of mixes. Messersmith's a special kind of dude because, not only does he write perfectly composed songs I love with all my little heart, but he's also just as big of a nerd as me!
For instance, if I were to wear my Rachel Grey X-Men necklace (Not that I own one...) to one of his concerts, not only would he recognize the symbolism of it, but he'd probably start chatting me up about our respective favorite comics.
Messermith, now more than ever, wears his nerd pride on his musical sleeve with his new song "Tatooine". I don't even need to tell you what it's about. What I do need to tell ya'll, however, is how dang precious the video is. Why? BECUASE IT'S ALL MADE OF CONSTRUCTION PAPER!
So hop in your podracer and get thee to the Mos Eisley Cantina but instead of hearing the Cantina Band play that one song over and over, take a listen to this instead. And hey, slip Han Solo my digits while you're at it. Dude's a fox.
If, after all that adorablity, you still haven't gotten enough of Mister Messermith (and let's face it: How could you?), take a moment to check out what Jeremy did just a few short hours ago during his lunchbreak. Writing songs about Star Wars? Streaming concerts on his lunch break? Obviously, that Vanessa Messersmith is one lucky lady!
